KSquirrel is abandoned since 2008. Its source code has been moved to https://github.com/HappySeaFox/ksquirrel. The image codecs from KSquirrel have been rebranded in 2020 as a fast and lightweight cross-platform image library called SAIL. See https://sail.software. You can still try KSquirrel in the Trinity Desktop.

In short: KSquirrel is an image viewer for KDE with disk navigator, file tree, multiple directory view, thumbnails, extended thumbnails, DCOP interface, KEXIF and KIPI plugins support.

Requirements: KDE 3.5x, QT 3.3x, OpenGL, ksquirrel-libs.

Important: you should have video drivers installed in order to enable hardware video acceleration. Visit your videochip's manufacturer website for the detailed information (nVidia, ATI, ...).

Current version: 0.8.0 (updated Dec 07, 2007). At this time KSquirrel supports 57 image formats.
